Athyr graduated from United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy’s & St Thomas’ in 1996 and has been providing orthodontic treatment since 1999. He is experienced with traditional types of orthodontic appliance, but is especially interested in the more ‘discreet’ options such as Invisalign clear aligners and lingual orthodontics, and has treated over 300 Invisalign cases. His treatment planning is based on facial profile, and the establishment of a healthy relationship between the teeth, joints and facial muscles. Technology is an important part of the treatment planning process, from iTero (impression-free) scans of the teeth, computerised assessment of the face and underlying skeletal structure, and predictions of facial profile following treatment, in addition to smile assessment. In addition to orthodontic treatment, Dr Al-Killidar diagnoses and treats many patients referred for cosmetic smile makeovers, missing teeth, jaw joint problems, and related disorders including headaches, neck aches, ear symptoms, excess tooth wear, tooth clenching and grinding. He is involved in research, and lectures to various groups. This combined with his caring and meticulous approach to treatment have enhanced his reputation amongst his professional colleagues and patients alike.
