Dr. John Bates PORTMAN

John is married with three children. If he has time he enjoys playing 5-a-side football, messing with computers and following Manchester City. A few Years ago he took up skiing, now tackling the odd easy black run. Recently he has started doing the Marple parkrun and is working to reduce his time over 5km. Dr Bates qualified from the Victoria University Manchester in 1987 where he gained his BDS degree. Dr Bates has a special interest in Orthodontics (braces) providing this treatment for patients of other Dentists in the practice, and referrals from other practices. He undertook a two year course run by the University of Manchester on Orthodontics, and was a Clinical Assistant dentist in the Orthodontic department at Tameside General Hospital for three Years. He is a member of West Pennine Local Dental Committee,British Dental Association. On five occasions he has been selected by the North West Post Graduate Deanery for being a mentor for newly qualified Dentists.
