Biography

Matt believes in using a minimally invasive approach, often straightening teeth using Invisalign, whitening and using purely additive ‘composite bonding’ - Matt is an Invisalign platinum provider. He enjoys improving people’s appearance and seeing the extra confidence that this can bring to them. He also likes being able to alleviate people’s dental pain, providing pain-free dentistry in a relaxed and friendly environment. Matt qualified from Sheffield Dental School in 2010 and was awarded an honours degree for high achievement as well as the Medical Chirurgical Society’s elective prize. In 2012 he was awarded the diploma of membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He then worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Pinderfields Hospital before returning to general practice, and joined the Farsley team in 2014. He completed the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons, learning to manage complex cases with the most up-to-date techniques. He then undertook a year of postgraduate research to convert this to a Master’s degree, which he passed with distinction. The findings from his research were published in the British Dental Journal, the profession’s main national publication, and he has also published cases in ‘Dental Practice’ magazine. Matt has since been asked to review research for entry into the British Dental Journal. Matt won the prestigious ‘Best Young Dentist’ award at the national ‘Dentistry awards’ in 2019, as judged by a respected panel of dental professionals. Matt enjoys providing implant dentistry, and has completed a post-graduate diploma in implant dentistry at the Institute for Clinical Excellence at Salford University, which he passed with distinction. He uses a digitally guided approach, using 3D printed guides when placing implants, as well as up-to-date grafting techniques using fully synthetic materials where these are needed. He has carried out many trips abroad providing emergency dental treatment to people otherwise without access to dental care. He volunteered for 6 months after university and still volunteers each year, which includes work in Cambodia, India, the Bornean rainforest, Fiji, the Peruvian Amazon and most recently refugee camps in Greece and Bangladesh, working with the Rohingya refugees displaced from Myanmar. Matt is married to Lam and they have two young sons, Dylan & Ethan, and Ronnie the cat. In his spare time he is a keen cyclist, when possible travelling abroad to cycle up mountains!
