Dr. Rachel Seed PORTMAN

I have been providing private specialist orthodontic treatment for adults and teenagers at Garstang Dental Referral Practice since 2012 using both Invisalign clear aligners and fixed braces. During this time, I have developed a particular interest in providing treatment for adults and in conjunction with restorative dentistry and for patients whose teeth have moved as a result of gum disease. Since 2005, I have limited my time to providing orthodontic treatment only so that I have an in-depth knowledge and experience in this particular specialist field of dentistry. This allows me to use my experience, knowledge and skills to enable me to help you make an informed, healthy choice about straightening your teeth and improving your smile. I completed 3 years of full time specialist orthodontic training in Liverpool and Crewe through The University of Liverpool School of Dentistry from 2005-2008. In 2008, I gained the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Masters in Dental Science, with distinction, from the University of Liverpool. From 2010-2015 I worked part-time as a Specialty Doctor in the Orthodontic Departments at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Royal Preston Hospitals where I treated patients with complex orthodontic problems; many of who required interdisciplinary management. I was also involved in teaching orthodontics to dental students from the University of Central Lancashire. I qualified as a dentist in 1997 from The University of Liverpool with Honours. I then spent eight years working both in General Dental Practice, at the Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Countess of Chester Hospital. During this time, I gained a broad base of experience in many areas of dentistry and was involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate dental students. I have always had a passion for providing orthodontic treatment after having it myself as a teenager. This was what made me decide to become a dentist from the age of 13!
